Fall Storytime

The fall session of storytime will begin the week of September 26 and end the week of December 5.  Two year olds and their caregivers will meet on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.  Three, four, and five year olds will meet on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. or Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.  Three and four year olds will meet Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.  Please contact the library to register your child.

Mid-Summer Fiesta!

Mark the halfway point of summer reading at the Mid-Summer Fiesta on Thursday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. for children of all ages and their families.  Games, music, stories, Mexican snacks, and a pinata are planned for this special program.  Please register for this FREE event by calling 860-584-7790 or stopping by the Manross Library.

One World, Many Stories

The excitement is building …….where in the world is Mrs. Eaton?????  As part of the summer reading program, Mrs. Eaton will be traveling to a different location each week.  It’s up to you readers to get the clues and solve the mystery.   Correct answers will be entered in a special weekly raffle! 

Also, as part of the summer fun, you can take Mrs. Eaton with you on vacation.  Don’t have room in the suitcase????  Not to worry….it’s only her picture!  Get one when you sign up for summer reading and you can take her wherever you’re going.  Snap a picture with her, print it, bring it in and we’ll be hanging them up at Manross Library.

June Activities

There’s lots happening at Manross Library for children this summer!  We kick off with our opening program, “Imagine Menagerie” with Anne Shapiro on Monday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m.  Registration is required for this free family event.  A variety of weely programs is scheduled beginning the week of June 27 and running until August 12.  Nutmeg Lunch Bunch for grades 4-6 will meet Mondays at 1:00 p.m. (except July 4), bring lunch and drinks will be provided.   Drop-in Storytime for preschoolers will be held on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Drop-in Travel Club for grades k-3 will meet Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.   Crafty Kids is a Drop-in craft for for all ages every Wednesday & Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

A complete listing of all events is available at the desk.  Weekly raffles, spinner wheel, and other activities are planned as part of the One World, Many Stories summer reading program.  The more you participate the more opportunities you have to win!

May Activities……

Come celebrate Mother’s Day this week with stories, crafts, and refreshments honoring mothers on Thursday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m.  Please register for this free event open to preschool age and older.

Join us for another exciting Pre-School Dance Party on Thursday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m.  Music, dance and refreshments for ages 5 and under.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Registration is now taking place for this free fun event!

March activities

Mr. Gym DJ will be performing at the Manross Library on Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m.  This is a high energy program of music, games, and movement for children ages 5 -12.  While there is no charge for this event, registration is required.  Space is limited so call or stop by the library to reserve your child’s spot!

January Activities

Come R.E.A.D to the dogs!  Tails of Joy will be at the Manross Library on Saturday, January 15th, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.  Children of reading age are invited to come read with the Reading Education Assistance Dogs.  Each child will receive coloring pages, stickers, etc. after they complete their 10-15 mintue reading session.  Children can also make a fun dog craft while they wait.  Please register for this free event.

Registration for the next session of storytimes at Manross Library will begin Tuesday, January 18th by phone at 9:00 a.m. and in-person at 10:00 a.m.  Two year olds and their parent/caregiver will meet on Tuesdays @ 9:30 a.m.  Three, four, and five year olds will meet on Tuesdays @ 10:30 a.m. OR Wednesdays @1:00 p.m.  This session begins the week of January 31 and ends the week of April 11.

December Activities

The Manross Library will hold a Winter Holiday Story Time on Saturday, December 11 at 10:30 a.m.  in the children’s area.  This FREE program is supported by the generosity of the Friends of the Bristol Public Library.  Stories, crafts, music, and refreshments are planned.  A visit from Santa himself  will also take place.  Bring your letters to Santa and you can post them in our special holiday mailbox.  Please register by calling 860-584-7790 or stop by the library.

Spa Day will take place during the holiday vacation week on Tuesday, December 28 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Manross auditorium.  This special event is open to girls ages 7 and up with their mothers, grandmothers, or girlfriends.  Spa Day will include hand treatments by Tina Warner of BeatiControl, talks about hair and make-up by Miss Bristol pageant winners, and manicures from Nails by Lori.  This program is FREE but requires registration.

October Activities

In addition to our weekly storytimes, the Manross Library will be sponsoring a four-week Book Voyagers book discussion for preschoolers and their parents/caregivers.  Meris Palmer, storyteller/facilitator will lead participants exploring the theme of “Friendship” in this series which be held Wednesdays from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. on October 6, 13, 20, and 27.   Multiple copies of the books featured each week are available to borrow.  Each session will also include storytelling, activities, crafts, and snacks.  This FREE program is made possible through a grant from the CT Humanities Council.  Registration is required.

The Manross Library will hold a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 30 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.  Spooky stories, face painting by Lori, apple bobbing, and other games are planned.  Bring your own pumpkin for pumpkin painting.  Wear your Halloween costume!  Refreshments will be served.  This FREE program is funded by the Friends of the Bristol Public Library.  Registration is required.
